Welcome!

Hey guys! My name is Alfred Strand, and this site is a travel diary where I have shared the stories of my bicycle trip through South America. The principal reason for this blog was to have contact with all my friends without missing out on anyone. After all, when you’re travelling you want to make the most of it and it’s hard to find the time to personally write to everyone!

Another reason for the site is to be a source of inspiration for bicycle touring and the “nomadic” lifestyle it implies. Personally I think it’s by far the best way to travel. Your pace is just right; just as slow as to not miss out on anything on the way, and just as fast as to be able to cover long distances. You come very close to the nature, you see and feel the change of both the landscape, climate and culture, and as a bonus you get plenty of physical exercise! The travel experience gets so much more intense, when smells, sounds and views aren’t screened by a cover of metal and glass.

There are so many more reasons for going on a bicycle trip which I can’t come to think about now… Maybe it will get clearer if you read my stories from the road!
